Corgi Gas Registration

The requirements for CORGI gas registration are set out in the following current legislation:


Gas Safety(installation and use) Regulation 1988
Gas Safety(installation and use) Regulations(Northern Ireland) 2004
Gas Safety(installation and use)Regulations 1994 as amended and applied to the Isle of Man

The specific regulation within the GSIUR'S covering 'Registration' is Regulation 3 Qualification and Supervision.

Key extracts from the HSC Approved Code of Practice and guidance state that:

All gas installation buinesses,including self employed persons,are required to be in membership of a "class of persons" approved by thr Health and Safety Executive(HSE)

Note: Although the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland(HSENI) and Health and Safety Work Inspectorate Isle of Man(HSWI) have not published a specific AcoP for the regulations in their area of authority,the above requirements still apply.

Applicants from gas installer buisnesses need to be competent in order to carry out gas work they intend to undertake before they can become CORGI registered.Gas operatives are required to demonstrate gas safety competence by successfully completing nationally agreed assesments,carried out at an approved assesment centre,
